From "Broken to Bulletproof"...

After that, I spent the next two hours telling my wife and our two friends, in detail, about my long-hidden, fierce addictions and abuse of pornography, sex, pills and alcohol, about my infidelity and everything I had told the men I had met with the previous day.  We all cried many tears over those two hours.  When we finished, I fully expected my wife to tell me she wanted a divorce.   I would also find out later that what I was doing in this meeting is the 5th STEP of recovery: We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

As far as I was concerned, I had pulled the pin on the grenade and it had exploded, destroying my marriage, my family, my friendships, my career, my health, my finances…my very heart and soul.  Darkness set in.

As I drove away from that meeting, headed back up to the mountains to the hotel room where I was staying, my wife sent me a text.  It read this:

“I have never been more proud of you as a man than I am today.  Thank you for having the courage to give me the truth.”

What others are saying about "Broken to Bulletproof"...

“In my career as a physician who works in the field of Addiction Medicine I have met over 24,000 people who struggle with chemical dependencies. When I meet a patient for the first time they will tell me how much they want to change but for many reasons they are not ready to change and continue to struggle. My hope, for you the reader, is that you are ready to change. My prayer is that you will not just read what Tony has written but DO what he teaches and practices himself. Then, as Tony testifies, you will be blessed and obtain the freedom you are so desperate for and that God is so eagerly ready to give.”
