Meet Dr. Simus
It has always been and will continue to be a true gift for me to be able to provide a healthy and happy smile to anyone who entrusts me with their own smile or that of their child or children. It is a task I am always grateful and honored to provide and treat as I would my own friend or family member. It is one of my greatest joys to run into a family years after I have provided orthodontic care and see the beautiful smile that they can enjoy every day, long after the treatment has ended.
The most important thing to me as I enter the rest of my career as an orthodontist in Riverside is the care of the individual who has come to our office to get a beautiful healthy smile. You can truly enjoy your profession if the well-being of the patients is the top priority. Come see us and allow us to show you how much we care.
Education and Continuing Education
I started my college training in Canada at Canadian Union College (now Canadian University College), then transferred to its sister school, Pacific Union College in the Napa Valley in Northern California. I received my doctoral training in dentistry at Loma Linda University in 1990 and proceeded to earn my master’s degree in orthodontics as well.
Upon graduation, I went directly into private practice in Redlands for 14 years. As an orthodontic specialist, I’ve taken continuing education courses throughout my career to stay up to date on new and innovative dental therapies.
For the last eight years, I have been involved in the growth and development of a cancer diagnostics and therapy company. I enjoyed the process and had a passion for the mission of cancer therapy. But I found I missed the interaction with the families and the joy of meeting new families and creating great smiles. So it is a true pleasure for me to rejoin Dr. Nichols in providing the best possible dental and orthodontic treatment to the families in Riverside and surrounding areas.
The reason I am so pleased to practice orthodontics again in this new facility in Riverside is the familiarity and confidence I have in Dr. Nichols as one of the finest pediatric dentists in southern California. When you work with someone you trust and have respect for as a professional, it creates an environment where the patients get continuity, and experience — not just in their dental and orthodontic care — how the two fields blend so importantly together.
Outside the Office
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I met my wife Lorrie, who had grown up in San Diego, at Loma Linda University while she was attending the dental hygiene program. We have two sons, Ryan and Scott, and a dog named Doug.
I enjoy watching ice hockey but truly relish the warmth of southern California and all it has to offer a guy who grew up in a very cold climate.
